Just to let any interested students know, the RESS election will be held on Thursday April 10 on the 4th floor of the Education building (outside the Engg. office).

With that being said, anyone interested in running for any position can fill out a nomination form. You can download a nomination form the Policy & Forms tab at the top or from the RESS lounge.

NOMINATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THURSDAY APRIL 3 at 5PM.

Head Shave for Cancer

The Regina Engineering Student’s Society is hosting a fundraiser for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency called “Head Shave for Cancer”. Engineering students and faculty members are volunteering as “head shavees” to lose their locks for cancer donations. Each head shavee places a value on his or her hair, and when the fundraisers, as a team, raise the amount each head shavee chooses, he or she will participate in the head shave. Funds are raised cumulatively, meaning once the total amount raised (from all fundraisers) reaches the value the head shavee chose, he or she will be shaved. E.g. once $100 in total is raised, Jordan will participate in the head shave. Once $250 in total is raised, Lone will participate in the head shave.

Two Different Ways to Donate:
1. Donate in person.
• Bring donations to the RESS Lounge in the Education Building (ED 127) until March 12th.
• Bring donations to the Riddell Center on March 13th, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
2. Donate by mail.
• First send an email to ress.headshave@gmail.com OR phone (306) 581-6952 and specify your name, address, phone number and donation amount to let us know you are sending a donation.
• Then send donations by mail until Monday, March 10th to the RESS address.

Pie In the Eye

Pie in the Eye (PITE) is a fundraiser which is to run the first three days from March 10th until March 12th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. PITE is a charity fundraiser where volunteers deliver pies all over the city. For a minimum donation of $5.00, someone can purchase a whipped cream pie to be sent to anyone in Regina. The recipient can then accept the pie in the face for free or pay the price. To have the pie sent to someone else or stop the pie cold, the recipient can pay the amount that was paid to have it sent to him or her plus $5.00 or $10.00, respectively. This year all the proceeds will be donated to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.

Dates of PITE: Monday, March 10 until Wednesday, March 12, 2008
Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location: Various – the RESS delivers the pies throughout Regina
How to Purchase a Pie:
1. Purchase a pie in person.
• Bring cash or cheques to the RESS Lounge in the Education Building (ED 127) from March 10 until March 12, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
2. Purchase a pie over the phone.
• First phone the RESS Lounge at (306) 584-8441 from March 10 until March 12, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
• Then send cheques by mail to the RESS address.

Dinner with the Dean

Tonight the RESS Council had dinner with Dr Paitoon to get up to date on changes the faculty is making, and for us to share any concerns that we as students currently have. We shared concerns about ENIN 233 and Laplace Transforms, new lab regulations for handing in reports (2 days rather than 1 week previously), and the Engineering website. We also shared with him our upcoming plans for the re-organizing of our executive council, ideas for new humanities electives, and our new changes to the lounge. All in all it was a very beneficial evening with some great dessert.

2nd Years please show up at 5PM.
All other engineers are welcome to show up for free beer at 6:30PM, and the joint cabaret with RESS, KHSS and Justice will be starting at 8PM.

2nd Year Mug Ceremony & Git ‘R Done!

2nd Year Mug Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 1st in the Multipurpose Room, Riddel Centre. This event is free and highly recommended for all 2nd Year Engineering students. You will be given your 2nd Year Name and if you pass, your 2nd Year Mug. (Free beer may be involved…)

At 6:30PM the Multi will be open to all engineering students for an end of semester mixer that may also…involve free beer. This will run until 8:00PM or until the kegs run dry. This is open ONLY to engineering students and will require your student ID card to attend.

At 8:00PM Engineering, Kinesiology & Justice Students’ Societies have teamed up to throw an end of the semester gongshow in The Lazy Owl!

Tickets are $5

Regina Engineering Competition

The first annual Regina Engineering Competition was a huge success and every competitor put forth a good effort. The teams that will be representing the University of Regina at the Western Engineering Competition are as follows:

Junior Design - Sherron Campbell, Kyle Nadiger, Matt Richardson, Sylvia Dziak

Engineering Communications - Adam Baragar, Nathan Rogowski

A special thanks to the judges, as well as Justin Grill, Drew Baldock and Matt Steen for their efforts in organizing this event.
