Come find out how students can get involved in Saskatchewan’s Environmental Industry! Hosted by the Student Chapter of the Saskatchewan Environmental Industry and Managers Association (SEIMA), this informal Meet and Greet Info Session is a great opportunity to meet Student Chapter Members, and to network with students from other environmental disciplines. W…e will be discussing ideas for upcoming environmental career events, as well as ideas for the Student Chapter in general. We are working hard on improving and increasing the connections between students and employers in Saskatchewan’s environmental sector. We are focusing on developing new and better ways that SEIMA represents students studying environmental fields, building their skills and knowledge of the environmental sector. Come find out what a SEIMA Student Chapter Membership can do for you, and get to know your future coworkers!

SEIMA is a provincial association of companies and individuals within the environmental industry, with a mandate to grow SK’s environmental business. Our membership spans from environmental managers of other industries, environmental engineering and consulting firms, remediation equipment and service providers, to government and public institutions dealing with environmental regulations.

The SEIMA Student Chapter represents the up-and-coming talent of this environmental industry.

What is IARRC?

IARRC is aimed at promoting R&D efforts into fully autonomous small-size ground vehicles – in particular the artificial intelligence software systems that run these vehicles. Student teams attending the competition are expected to develop intelligent, autonomous robots able to navigate a complex road course while avoiding the obstacles and responding to traffic signs and signals.

IARRC is an annual event that first took place at the University of Waterloo in April 2005, and was held at the University of Windsor last year. This year, UBC Thunderbird Robotics is proud to host IARRC 2011 at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver Campus.

Why participate?

This year’s winners will receive the largest prizes ever awarded at an IARRC! The Grand Award is $5,000 in cash while the overall runner-up will receive an award of $2,000. Awards will also be made to the best team in each individual component of the competition (i.e., Design Competition, Drag Race, and Circuit Race). Additional awards have been allocated for the two best first-time-attending teams. Besides the opportunity to win prize money, the learning experience and companionship with other Robotics enthusiasts is priceless.

We encourage all student teams from high schools, colleges, and universities to participate and share their ideas and robots with other participants and the general public who will attend this event and the associated Exhibition.
